Much has been written and said about the phenomenon of Global Warming. I'm pretty sure that this article will be given just a passing glance by browsers cuz lets face it: Everyone's had read enough articles about it to last them a lifetime. But then, do we really know all the facts??

The Indian Government, along with China and Brazil has been a strong supporter of this theory since long.....and hence it has always imparted to the public that Global Warming is a disaster looming towards us in the near future and our textbooks have carried a similar message since High School.

We have been fed opinions forcefully.....and since now there hasn't been much room given for free-thinking. Every argument has two sides..... and the Indian Public have never seen much of the other side of this issue: the side that debates fiercely that Global Warming is just a wild theory....and is untrue.

Read ahead to know what some prominent members of the Anti-GW movement have to say.

The conclusions of the IPCC are unjustified, as Cloud Physics is still a weak subject, a subject which hasn't fully evolved as of yet.....and is in no certain status to make predictions. Climate models CANNOT predict Future Climate till they can predict Solar and Volcanic activity. Most studies of IPCC have errors that have been hidden from the general public.The computer models used to make such predictions are still evolving, and don't take into account recent feedback mechanism. The increase in hurricane activity has been cited as the result of Tropical Multi-Decadal signal.

Industrial Revolution may not necessarily have caused Global Warming, as Global Temperatures went down between 1940-1970, even as CO2 levels shot up drastically.

There is a variation in the estimation of CO2's effectiveness as a greenhouse gas, but they are generally 10-100 times lower than water weight, leaving a net effect of man-made CO2 emisions at less than 1%.

Factors such as Sunspot activity, which occurs in a 11-year cycle, are directly related to Global Warming. Hence these may also be a cause for the rise in temperature.

Global Warming is largely a result of reduced low-altitude cloud cover from reduced Galactic Cosmic Rays.

Global warming is a highly politicized issue, with various Parties supporting various views. The climatologists take sides or cover-up bare facts due to the fear of losing their funding by the Parties. This phenomenon, also called the Politicisation Of Science, was discussed as a cause of concern by reknowned Science-Fiction author and critic Michael Crichton.

CO2 consists of just 0.0381% of the Earth's atmosphere. The Earth has been in an Ice Age with greater level of CO2 (0.441%) during the Ordovician Period. Studies of Ice-Age also show the CO2 levels increasing after Temperature Rise than before. Hence Correlation is not Causation.

Also, Greenhouse Effect and GDP growth are directly related. Hence the steps outlined by the IPCC for its prevention will cost us some serious money. Third-World countries will lose a lot of bread due to this.

During the 1970's, the Global Cooling concern was alarmist and was afterwards discarded. The Global Warming phenomena may turn out to be one too.

Like I said before, an argument always has two sides, and theories may constantly be proved and disproved. Personally, I don't know what to believe. Even though the Anti-GW's arguments do seem level-headed and logical, it is a fact that its prominent leaders are backed by powerful Fossil-Fuel Industries, which may face heavy losses if the Global Warming theory is confirmed.

Because merely, as Crichton himself states in one of his books, 'Absence of proof is NOT proof of absence'.
